Seriously, I would LOVE to work for Nintendo, I've had a million funny and awesome game ideas. The list below is rather pointless, if fun... I'm going to go to college for game development, so here's hoping I can make some games on Nintendo home consoles before Virtual Reality really becomes Virtual Reality. For some reason developing for them doesn't seem as appealing to me. Nintendo, I'm sure you hear this all the time, and you have no reason to believe me, but I would be awesome to have around! (And I'm super humble!)
I emailed this list to nintendo power for them to forward over to nintendo. This is a really old list, and I think some of the features are already being developed.
A literature channel on the wii. Read stories on your tv or download them to your ds.
A steering wheel add-on for the ds. It plugs into the gba slot and covers the touch screen.
An officially nintendo-sanctioned distro of linux compiled specially for the wii. (DVD features, homebrew games, office software, etc) And, of course, usb keyboard/mouse support.
Wii stores. Perhaps a tie-in to ebay? anyway, a channel where you can sell goods and manage a store with miis and convenient point-and-click management.
gyros and microphones in wiimotes (how many times have you heard that one?)
a netflix wii channel (download movies from a list while in standby mode!) Which, of course, would require either usb hdd support, or a hdd add-on for the wii. (Which, in itsself, is an awesome idea) Compact flash maybe? SSD?
Vitalize! support for the opera browser channel. (check out clickteam.com) I (along with millions of others) would love to make wii games.
support for playing old sega cd console games directly from the disc. (There's got to be some sort of identifier on
the disc that would enable the wii to recognize it as a sega game.)
Controllers for playing VC titles that are shaped EXACTLY like NES, SNES, and N64 controllers.
Or maybe even an adapter to plug old controllers directly into the wii. (or even old cartridges!)
Black wiis. black wiimotes. Blue Wiis. Blue wiimotes.
upgrades to the mii channel. (more hair!)
GB, GBC, and eventually GBA games on the VC channel.
a wii channel that lets you see the screens of an in-range DS, as well as stylus position. (hardware limitations probably hinder that)
Ability to use wiimote storage space for game saves.
miis for the ds!!
A dedicated POP3 email channel
A bluetooth GCN controller (white with clear buttons like a wiimote) for games on the wii that just don't need motion control (GASP... IS there such a thing!?) Maybe a standalone classic controller shaped like a GCN one.
I have no idea if this is feasible, since gamecube mode locks out all wii functions, but it would be exceptionally handy if gamecube saves could be put on
wii system memory or an SD card.
A DS shaped like the original GBA (with a flip-top screen). I don't know about everyone else, but after handling the GB, GBC, GBP, GBA SP, GBA Micro, DS, DS lite, and PSP, I STILL like the GBA design best. Most comfy. And the best button feel. (I've only played a ds lite once, so I can't remember, but the button problem may have already been resolved.)
B.O.B. for the wii. (I'd settle for the original on VC) (Electronic Arts, I believe)
Nintendo News channel. latest gaming info, release dates, rumors, etc. (see next)
Nintendo Power Channel! Buy a subscription to the wii version of Nintendo Power. (Could also be handy for other magazine publications.)
the occasional free VC title
Insaniquarium for wii (Maybe a channel, probably wouldn't be big enough for full sized game) (No clue who to contact.)
CD + G support for wii (Of course, with a few of these ideas, if you did all of them the wii would just seem like another computer, but if you only picked the elite in awesomnety, it would probably go over well.)
Balding Overweight Man for wii! (A game of my own creation that is as of now unfinished.)
A new Game Boy Player for the wii. (USB? Wifi?)
Wii menu skins.
voices for miis. could be a selection of various accents, and then pitch, volume, and speed adjusters.
Mario party 1-3 on VC
Tetris! what could be better for turning blocks than a motion-sensitive controller?? And you could send blocks to the bottom with a good downward flick.
(Edit: It could be a new revolutionary tetris that lets you put the blocks in more directions than just up, down, left, and right. Some kind of complicated block design would allow that.)
Paintball wii. (I'm sure it'll be done)
Contest channel. Compete monthly (or weekly. or at any other regular interval.) in minigames with people around the world for real prizes!
The megamans from battle network and ryuusei no rockman in super smash bros. brawl
ONE last megaman battle network game on the wii (None of that side-scrolling stuff though)
Mario paint on VC
MP3 Player channel
DOS games on VC
ability for two wiis within range to connect to each other without internet access.
Scene it! wii. I know that an xbox360 version is coming out, but everyone knows it would be cooler on wii.
plain-and-simple DVD player channel. The wii already has a DVD drive, so why not have DVD decoder software? (Could be merged with MP3 player into the Media channel) (UPDATE: BEING DONE!)
Ford Falcon racing game! And not like the scant ones that only include Aussie falcons. I mean a good ol' American 1960-1970 1/2 ford falcon racing game.
A camera add-on for the wii (Maybe a different company could make it so no one could say that nintendo ripped off sony. Or maybe someone could "leak" software that makes the wii support the eyetoy.) Suction cup for attachment to side of wii would be superb. And a Claymation channel! Stop-motion software and a creation-sharing forum!
I know some of these suggestions are obvious, so this is semi-idea submissal, semi-wishlist.
I always wanted to try Earthbound. Would be a good VC title.
A major contest that will be looked forward to for months. A special channel that can be downloaded and practiced on. Then, thousands of people will compete everywhere for the right to design a wii game and to meet Shigeru Miyamoto, Keiji Inafune, Reggie Fils-Aime, etc.
That wii dev kit that was promised!
A digitizer tablet-esque controller for the wii. Would enable DS-style games on the wii, not to mention writing and drawing applications.
A motion sensitive ds add-on. (Just kidding)
Randomly awarding senior centers/nursing homes with wiis. (Could encourage the young'uns to interact with old folk.)
School activity software for wii to liven up boring classes.
Wiicast channel. Sign up for podcasts, and view popular videos.
An official addon to attach to the holes on the back of the wii classic controller.
3d solar system. Perhaps an addition to the 3d globe of the weather channel. I know that I would greatly appreciate THAT.
"chat rooms" For wiis that have every other member as a friend. Example: Member one has members two, three and four as friends. Member two has members one, three, and four as friends. etc.
A boredom channel. Random things to do when you're bored. One idea, a floating gelatinous blob that you can turn and grab and poke, and responds appropriately. Another idea, a "slap the monkey" game. (I don't remember where I saw it, probably pretty easy game to find on the web.) Card games.
Smash Bros. GBA!
Smash Bros. DS!
I had this idea long ago. Take big places from several games, perhaps Mario 64, legend of zelda Oot, etc. Or make giant new environments. Players hide anywhere they want, (Multiplayer.) and then one person goes and finds them. I repeatedly found places in mario 64 and in the huge dungeons of tloz where I thought it would be fun to hide. Could be online. (You might want to have the option of choosing the world to hide in, or seeking could take hours. Hey, it could take hours even with that.) There could also be a sardines version where one person hides and everyone tries to find him. That would probably be more fun. In case you don't know, in sardines, if you find the hiding person(s), you stay with them. Last one to find the group is it. This could also be a DS-WII compatible game. If you use old maps, you could connect wii and ds and play against each other.
Release Star fox 2 for VC!!
Ask atari if you can use some classics on VC
Bluetooth printer support! (no idea why in the world this would be useful)
At least a smidgen of info on the next handheld game system. (Come on, I'm sure it was in development before the DS was even released!)
Google Earth channel 'Nuff said.
A sensor to detect where in the room you are. (Ultrasound? Infrared?) The possibilities are obvious. (Tennis anyone?) Maybe an emitter could be in a new wiimote, or an extension controller of sorts. Maybe one of those heat sensors combined with the location of the wiimote/ultrasonic sensor. Could be used in concert with the sensor bar when pointing.
Goof Troop Wii (the SNES game was a classic)
More format compatabilities in the photo channel. Video editing features in the same.
Ability to delete photos from the message board from within the photo channel.
DJ game. Use prerecorded music or a microphone, then distort and remix with on-screen controls and motion-sensing goodness.
Lego model builder channel. (WHAT?! Legos are cool)
Transmogrification for the wii. A game currently in development by me that is nowhere near being remotely or infinitely close to being done. (Neither is Balding Overweight Man)
Banantula for the wii. An idea for a game that I tried to make.
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time and Majora's mask on DS. It's on the 64, GCN, and Wii, why not the DS?
Have an option in the wii settings to automatically go to the disc channel when the A button is pressed on a gamecube controller. Then have a popup message asking whether to start the game in case the button was pressed by accident. (EXTREMELY HANDY WOULD THIS BE.)
Infrared reciever that hooks onto the front of a gamecube controller for use with wii games that use the GCN controller.
A nintendo ds storage card to save download play data, that way it doesn't have to be redownloaded every time. (UPDATE: THERE IS A RUMOR THAT THE NEXT DS HAS STORAGE)
What with some of the ideas coming to fruition, maybe nintendo did get this letter. I had another letter with more ideas, but I lost it.
